| Abu Dhabi is the capital of the emirate of the same name, largest of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates and is also the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It was said by CNN to be the richest city in the world[1] and is located in the center of the northern part of the United Arab Emirates. The city lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf from the central western coast. An estimated 1.8 million people lived there in 2006, with about an 80% expatriate population.
