Bangkok is one of
Asia's most cosmopolitan cities. Created as the
Thai capital in 1782 by the first monarch of the
present Chakri dynasty, Bangkok is a national treasure
house and Thailand's spiritual, cultural, political,
commercial, educational and diplomatic centre.
Covering
some 20,000 square kilometers, there is much to
see in this province. Some of the more ancient Buddhist
Temples are to be found here. The city of Chiang
Mai and capital of its namesake province is about
310 meters above sea level.
Koh Chang (Ko Chang)
Marine National Park is new and virtually unknown
to the outside world. Few people know of its secret
wonders. Some even boldly call it “the last paradise
islands in South-East Asia”.
Koh
Samui is Thailand's third largest island at 247
square kilometres, and during the last decade it
has become one of Southeast Asia's premier tourist
destinations.
This
seaside province is located in the Andaman Sea.
The province is full of white sandy beaches, crystal
clear seawater, beautiful islands, verdant forest
with caves, and waterfalls, including more than
100 offshore islands.
Pattaya
lies 147km southeast of Bangkok on the northeast
coast of the Gulf of Thailand. In 1950 there was
little here other than a small fishing village.
It was unspoiled and unsophisticated yet in 40 short
years it has become a city in its own right.
Phuket,
a large island in the Indian Ocean, is 867 kms.
from Bangkok. It is the only island having provincial
status, and was a regional headquarters as well,
with a rich and colorful history.
